Wow! Who knew there were so many train gardens in and around Harford County? Thank you to The Washington, Virginia & Maryland Garden Railway Society for putting this list together.  If you are willing to travel, they have a ton more train gardens in the Maryland area listed on their web site www.wvmgrs.org/TrainGardens.htm#MarylandN

Here are great deals on some amazing train sets that can go around your Christmas tree at home. The Polar Express one it my personal favorite.

Applewood Farm, 4435 Prospect Road, Whiteford, MD. “Christmas at Applewood”. Eight model train displays and The Applewood Express, a miniature 1870’s vintage steam train that will carry guests on a scenic 6/10 mile tour. Chesapeake Susquehanna & Western Model Railroad, 36 Porter Road, North East, MD. 17th Annual Christmas Model Train Open House has been under construction for the past 17 years and continues to change each year. Tuesdays December 8, 15, 22, 29, Thursday December 3, 6:30pm – 9pm. Saturdays December 12, 19, 26, 11am – 4pm. Sunday December 6, 27 1pm – 5pm. Christopher’s Train Garden, Broom’s Bloom Ice Cream and Dairy Store, 1700 South Fountain Green Road (MD 543), Bel Air, MD. Train garden displayed in memory of Christopher Cooper by his family and friends. Mason Dixon Large Scale Railroad Society, Bel Air Town Center, 500 Block of Baltimore Pike (US Business 1, enter between Chili’s and Taco Bell and go straight), Bel Air, MD. View two G-gauge layouts: a large, 72-foot long modular layout with scratchbuilt model structures the depicting local area and lots of animated scenes. Also, a smaller Christmas tree layout with illuminated buildings in a wintry scene is in the store window. Perryville Railway Museum, Perryville MARC Train Station, 650 Broad Street, Perryville, MD. The museum features railroad pictures and memorabilia from different time periods of Perryville history. There is a model train layout showing how the tracks for both Norfolk Southern and Amtrak run through Perryville. Sundays year-round Noon – 4pm. www.perryvillemd.org
